Machine Learning – Data Science, Technology & Opportunities

When we think of self-driving cars, speech recognition on our devices, and the vastly improved web searches we’re able to do today, we have machine learning to thank for it all. It’s involved in so much of our everyday life that we’re using it several times, daily, and not even conscious of the fact. The emergence of Data Science & technology has led several industries – transportation, manufacturing, energy, even finance – to adopt smart algorithms, and ended up creating several career opportunities in the field of machine learning as well.

What is machine learning?

Machine learning is one of the most exciting new technologies to be developed in recent history. It is a from of artificial intelligence where, instead of programming, a system is enabled to learn from data. A machine-learning model is the output generated when you train your machine-learning algorithm with data.

How do you study Machine Learning?

A lot of reputed learning centres offer taught programmes on machine learning and you can sign up for any one of them. Typically, in an ML course, you will learn the fundamentals of what consists of machine learning – history of AI, intelligent agents, state-space problem representations, uninformed and heuristic search, game playing, logical agents, and constraint satisfaction problems. You will also be able to understand the concept of Machine Learning along with the advanced Models, Perceptron, Decision trees & Markov Decision Processes.

What do you do after studying ML?

According to a 2019 Indeed report, Machine Learning Engineer is the #1 job in the list of The Best Jobs in the US, recording a whopping 344% growth with a median salary of $146,085 per year.

Machine learning has gained popularity because of the value it offers to corporations and entities leveraging big data, to better understand changes in behaviour and preferences of consumers. Data contains patterns and anomalies that can point to potential problems or interesting insights that can shape the strategy going forward.

Data Scientist, Machine Learning Engineer, Natural Language Processing (NLP) Scientist, Human-Centred ML Designer – these are some of the lucrative career paths available for machine-learning enthusiasts, post a degree in a tight program. The applications of this technology are omnipresent and increasingly discovered and adopted by the world.
